The People
“Volunteer” comes from the Latin word voluntas (meaning “will”). It is acting from one’s own free will without receiving income or goods or without legal obligation. That abridged dictionary definition doesn’t capture the way in which volunteering is an expression of the highest instincts of human beings. It is the glue that holds communities together.
Since our beginning, volunteers have been a critical component of Joseph’s House. We have depended on the volunteers to support our work in a variety of ways—we could not be a light in the community if it weren’t for them. We depend on volunteers to assist us with everything from painting our facilities to helping us care for feeding the homeless here in Brooksville.
